The parkland of the Falkensteiner Hotel Montafon, covering about 2.5 hectares, serves as a model of integration between tourism architecture and Alpine landscape. The main goal was to embed the new structure sensitively and coherently into the cultural and natural landscape of the Montafon valley, respecting its morphology, materials and native vegetation. The gently sloping terrain was modelled in a naturnah (nature-oriented) manner, creating a sequence of spaces that promote experience and well-being. Areas such as the local-variety orchard, a young woodland, and species-rich flowering meadows established through hay transfer provide diverse habitats for native flora and fauna.
Throughout the park, play and exploration areas invite guests of all ages to engage with the landscape and strengthen their connection to nature. The green roofs of the hotel — designed as solar and biodiversity roofs — further enhance the project’s ecological quality, combining sustainability and technology. The result is a harmonious and identity-rich landscape, where nature, architecture and tourism interact in balance with the Montafon’s mountain setting, offering a contemporary interpretation of Alpine culture and values.
