The redesign of the garden at the Residence and Nursing Home in Bruneck draws inspiration from the concepts of memory and sensory experience. Different landscape typologies, rooted in the local natural and cultural context and in the personal histories of the residents, are reinterpreted within a series of themed gardens. These spaces evoke memories, nurture a sense of belonging, and convey continuity and reassurance. During their walks, residents and visitors encounter familiar fragments of the South Tyrolean landscape — scents, materials and atmospheres that awaken experiences and emotional connections.
The themed gardens — such as the water garden, farm garden, flower meadow, domestic yard and rose garden — offer a varied and multisensory experience. A clear spatial structure provides a legible and welcoming layout, creating distinct atmospheres that invite ongoing discovery. Drawing on elements from the local agricultural and horticultural tradition, the project builds a bridge between individual memory and collective landscape, restoring both identity and vitality to the site.
