The concept study for the Ums village centre stems from the need to reinforce the visual and functional coherence of the historic core while enhancing its spatial and social relationships. The objective is to preserve the village’s character while improving the quality of daily life in its public spaces. The main design measures include: the redevelopment of the main road, designed with greater attention to pedestrian safety and usability; the reorganisation of the entrance car park, providing clearer layout and landscape integration; the creation of two new gathering spaces, conceived as relational squares and social meeting points for the community.
Special emphasis is placed on urban vegetation, a key element of the village’s visual and environmental identity. Planting beds and green surfaces are redesigned with perennials, grasses and shrubs, enriched with seasonal bulbs to bring colour and dynamism throughout the year. The result is a natural, welcoming and sustainable village landscape, capable of improving the microclimate and enhancing the overall liveability of public space.
