The Badle Längenfeld open-air exhibition unfolds across three zones, designed to narrate and celebrate the long-standing thermal tradition of the municipality of Längenfeld. Long before the construction of the modern Aqua Dome, the search for and use of sulphurous water shaped the identity of the place — a cultural and landscape heritage that this new site brings to life and makes permanently visible. The project aims to offer an experience that combines storytelling and perception, transforming history into a sensory journey. Two main installations — the “Schwefelfels” (Sulphur Rock) and “Das Bohrloch” (Drilling Well) — form the core of the exhibition, giving architectural expression to the most emblematic elements of the local thermal culture.

Within these sculptural structures, the history of Längenfeld’s bathing culture unfolds — from its origins in 1589 to the present day. The Schwefelfels, with its geometrically reduced concrete form and mineral tones, blends seamlessly into the natural surroundings. Handcrafted wooden seating recalls traditional building methods and establishes a dialogue with the regional vernacular architecture.

The interplay between natural materials and contemporary forms creates a serene and contemplative atmosphere that invites pause and reflection. Through Badle Längenfeld, the history of the place becomes part of the landscape itself — an open experience that interweaves memory, nature and architecture.
