The garden created beside Building W of Bozen Hospital covers an area of around 1,300 m², offering patients, staff and visitors a variety of spaces for movement, meeting or quiet rest. The project arose from the desire to establish a place of balance and regeneration, where contact with nature becomes part of the healing process. The design is structured around three sensory themes — seeing, hearing and smelling — each engaging different perceptions through targeted choices of colour, material and planting.
In the garden of sight, the contrast between orange and blue-violet tones conveys vitality and energy.
The garden of sound is characterised by a subtle palette of greens and whites, where grasses and taller plants sway in the wind, producing a soft, natural sound, enhanced by the presence of fountains or water features.
The garden of scent offers a rich variety of herbs and aromatic plants; newly added loungers invite visitors to sit, close their eyes and experience the landscape through smell and stillness. A network of paths and small squares links the different zones, alternating between social areas and quiet retreats.
Planting beds with over 100 species of perennials, grasses and bulbs evolve with the seasons, continuously revealing new details and perspectives.
The garden thus becomes a therapeutic landscape, guiding the gaze away from daily concerns and restoring a sense of calm and equilibrium.
